  1. We had a good time down in Mexico - Baja California area...was reasonable

  2. What type of fishing were you looking for ?

  3. A few years back I went fishing down in Panama. It is very ecenomical for being outside of the U.S. and  the fishing is world class. Now, when I went down last I fished for Peacock Bass in the Canal. There is a guide service near the Gamboa resort that charges about 80 dollars a day for a motorized boat (Usually a basstracker aluminum hull with 3 bench seats) it may be a bit more now. They charge a bit extra for using their bait but it's like 6 bucks for 2 dz minnows. I would recommend bringing your own tackle consisting of plastic worms and crank baits to help with getting the bigger fish in the boat.

I did some inshore fishing at an Island off the pacific coast of Panama called Taboga. This is a small gorgeous island with a lagoon and a smaller island that can be reached by a land bridge during low tide.  Backside of the small island or te reef on the north east side of the land bridge can actually bring barracuda and snapper.

Charter services are available for deep sea... Marlin, Sailfish, Shark, Barracuda, Snapper, Grouper,  and even certain types of tuna can be caught off the coast. It is also a humpback whale witnering ground so you may get the extra added bonus of seeing one. Alot of the captains down there are Zonians (Americans who stayed in Panama after the U.S. pullout)  or speak very good english so that will not be a problem for you. I'll drop a website or two at the bottom for you to check out.
