Question:

Five year olds sleep over?

My five year old boy wants to have his friend stay over, we've got enough beds and I've checked with the boys mum that she is happy for him to come....so let's hear your ideas about fun things the boys can do while they are here.

I am thinking we'll pick him up about 6pm Friday evening for dinner, and his parents will collect him about 9 or 10am the next morning.

My son usually goes to bed at 8pm - but on non-school nights we let him have his TV on and stay up for a while.

I'll ask his mum which TV channels he is allowed to watch and set the restriction on Dylan's TV so that's all they've got, but what else should we do or should we just let the boys entertain each other?

I'll of course find out if this lad goes to bed and goes to sleep or if he is one that likes to stay up, and any of her hard & fast rules that we have to observe.

  1. I would just stick to your normal sort of routine for your son but also let them amuse themselves - just try and get them to have some quiet, unwind time half an hour or so before bedtime!

  2. whatver makes you feel better

  3. 5 years olds?

    Well i guess thats okay. . .

I think pick the boy up at around 4pm and the boys can play outside and throw a footy around or something and have some afternoon tea and then have showers then tea. Then get some movies out for them to watch, comfortable beds so they can watch them and milk to calm them down. They will probable talk adn then watch the movies then fall asleep. Just no lollies or sugar before bed it will make them super crazy and too hard to go to sleep. Just wear them out :)

  4. They should be able to entertain each other. Get down some of your son's fun games for them to play. Otherwise they might play with his action figures and blocks and other toys or just watch TV or any DVDs you might have or rent for the occasion.

They will get the munchies at some point after dinner. Let them help make ice cream sundaes or mini pizzas or something fun they may not normally have. For five year olds you don't need to get very much stuff. If they're the only ones snacking you only need a pint of ice cream and a couple of small jars of toppings and some whipped cream and cherries. If they're doing pizzas you only need some English muffins, a bit of sauce and cheese and a couple of other toppings if that.

    Have fun.

  5. 5 is too young in my opinion but if your happy to do it...

I would be making a bed time at 9pm l;atest. The more tired he is the more likely he will get upset and want to go home. You need them in bed before they get into that silly tired stage
