Flash Memory Drive for Cell Phone?

So I have a new cell phone and I want to put music on it because it has space for a memory card. I have the memory card hooked up to my computer and now I want to put music on it.

I tried copying music from my iTunes onto the drive but then it doesn't show up as music on my cell- please help!
