Flea shampoo?

Question

My boyfriend and i were talking and he asked if flea shampoo would work on lice. I told him i dont know can dogs even get lice? Any who it got me thinking, would flea shampoo kill lice?

Human lice and dog lice are different bugs. Usually a dog won't give you lice. Ticks...well that another story.

Nope. Assuming you're talking about the lice humans get, commonly called "head lice." Dog flea shampoo won't touch it. (Never mind it can't safely be used on humans or birds or cats.) It is formulated to be effective against fleas and ticks.

There is a remedy for bird lice called VetRx. Animal supply places sell it. Also very helpful to dust the birds with diatomaceous earth (DE). The least likely to bother their breathing is one made for use around foodstuff, called foodgrade DE. (Kills a lot of parasitic worms, too.)

I bathe my dog with "Dawn" Dish soap. It kills everything :)
