ok well im only 16 and 2 weeks ago noticed like a floater in my eye whist revising for my as' when looking at my wall for example in bright light or somthin. a week later i had a virus one min was shiverin next i was hot so thought that had something to do with it but it carried on after ive just recovered. I just looked on the condition n stuff on the internet n its just made me worried even more coz im only 16 n it says its common in old people n i feel like im the only one =| any suggestions???

  1. I work in the optical business, and when a patient calls saying they have "floaters" we are told to get them in right away..

    Go see a doc. to be safe!

Floaters are totally natural and common, it was most likely not related to your virus.  My opthamologist told me, when I said I was concerned about mine, that they are harmless and are floating behind my eye.  I've had them my whole life (I'm 30) and otherwise in great health with normal eyes.  I think most people I've spoken to have them as well.  No worries!

  3. My mom had floaters.  She went to her eye doctor who sent her to a specialist.  It ended up being "retinal detachment".  A serious problem if let go.  She needed eye surgery.  She's better and the floaters are gone.
