Our upstairs neighbor's washing machine blew up and flooded our flat. We have had several thousand dollars worth of damage, but we do not have an insurance for our flat. Does our neighbor's insurance need to cover this?

  1. Your neighbor is legally responsible for your damage and his insurance should pay for it

  2. Home insurance covers lots of different things. I'm not familiar with the Florida laws and regulations, so I recommend you call a local homeowners insurance agent. http://www.easyhomeinsuranceguide.com/Fl... They should be able to help you.

  3. No, and it won't, either.  If you didn't insure your flat, you're uninsured, and paying for this out of pocket.  Just like, if YOUR washing machine blows up and floods the guy under you, YOU don't have to write the checks, either.

It's an ACCIDENT.  HIS policy doesn't cover damage to YOUR Property.   Just because it's his washing machine, doesn't make him automatically liable.

This happens ALL THE TIME.  Whoever told you, you didn't need your own condo policy, you should sue THEM, for bad insurance advice.

  4. Upstairs neighbors insurance covers damage to their property. Your insurance covers yours. But you dont have insurance. So you get nada.
