Foil Boat?

we have to make a foil boat in our science class....can anyone tell me how to make one that will float good because our teacher is going to add wieght to it to see how much it holds....the piece is 10 by 10 in inches

  1. i would make it wide and tall, like an upsidedown pita bread shape


  2. The wider it is...the more weight it will hold.

    That is, providing it doesn't collapse. So the bgest weight bearing shape will be almost like a pan(think Barge)...but you must mold in a couple ribs for strength unless you are allowed to use braces...like straws or skewers or toothpicks...and tape?

    You might get lucky with a plain 8.5X8.5 pan with the edges rolled and scrunched up.

    After all, you're not making a speedboat!...this is for weight.

  3. I would mold it aound something and put plastic around the upper rim so that it has strenght.

  4. Sounds like fun. Makes me want to make one..... What are the rules? If you can reinforce it with foam of something like that the possibiltys are endless.
