Im buying my boyfriend a poker table, and not sure which is better. The table tops seem to be a bit cheaper, but whats the diff. really? Can the table top fit on any size table or how does it work?

  1. get the folding, you can take it to parties, use it in different rooms, etc.      dont get a piece of furniture unles you can afford good quality

  2. The main advantage I've seen for non-folding tops is that they usually have a stopping border that prevents cards from falling off while being dealt. That isn't a hug benefit, though, for home-games. The obvious benefit for folding tops is that they fold, and can be stored or moved easily. I would go with the folding one, unless you've noticed your boyfriend deals cards off the table.

  3. It depends on what kind of games he usually plays, and where he plays them.  I haven't seen too many folding table tops that aren't hex-shaped.  With this, you are more or less limited to round tables and can't fit as many people as you would with a table with folding legs.  If he has a lot of games at his place and has the room, go with the table.  This is good if he has a truck or a big vehicle that he can take it to other games he goes to, as well.  But if he only plays with a small group of friends and has a round table, get the table top.

  4. The folding tables are better. The table tops are fine and all, however, they are not as strong, and if they extend out over the table they are placed, you can't lean on the edges, which is kind of annoying, and potentially messy, as any beers near the end are gonna go flying.

  5. get a folding table.  and make sure it has cup holders, that is a huge benefit.  it is a lot easier to store the fold up tables versus the tops.  and if he decides to leave the table up, he can.

  6. as an owner of both, i would say get the table, not the table top.  But make sure you get a decent one, the cheap ones fall apart pretty quick.

  7. I would choose the folding table over a table top.

The table tops will unfold over most tables. They do not usually fit propoerly and theres usually a weird over hang. They are a little bit smaller therefor they are a little bit more uncomfortable when playing with lots of people. And these are tough to clean. They stain easily and cigarette ash doesn't like to come out very easy either.

The folding table works well. They are bigger for one. And easier to set up and put away. And much more sturdy.

Here's what we did for our home game that works nice for us.We went to Wal - Mart and bought a $30 table that is about 6 feet long and folds out. Also while at Wal - Mart, they have different fabrics there to choose from. With alot of different cool styles to choose. Average of close to $20 for these so you're looking at around $50 total. Just have them cut out a cool fabric like a table cloth that you can wash and re clean when needed. We found a cool one that was black with blue flames. The whole thing folds nicely and tucks behind our couch like we don't even know it's there.

Also with our table, we were able to tack the cloth to the table on the bottom side to help hold it in place. And by using different fabrics you can switch it up every so often. Go for classic casino green or red. Then switch to purple or black for fun.

  8. Mini, quit spamming.

It depends on how much room you have.  The folding table is better, but only if you have a place to set it up, like a basement, or an extra room.  If you don't have someplace to set it up, get the folding top.
