Food: How does fondant taste?

I've just seen the cakes on tv and it doesn't look like something I would want to eat, but of course they are the best looking cakes. I imagine a thick cream thicker then the cream in oreo cookie. Am I right? What does it taste like?

Seriously, seriously sweet.  It's like the filling in a Oreo but it can be a little lighter, maybe due to it being whipped more.  It can be flavoured with vanilla, lemon, mint, chocolate - anything really!

I tend to find that having a cupcake covered in the stuff actually brings my face out in a sweat due to the sugar rush!

I LOVE it. Yes, it is really sweet like an Oreo cookie, but Oreo's are the shizz.

It is very sweet. I have only had it once and it was at my brothers wedding i really really liked it it was just like sugar in my opinion which is good i have never worked with it personaly but i have eaten it. And no it is not like thick cream it is more of a sheet of play dough that is the only thing texturally i can compare it to but it is maybe a little thinner....

It tastes very, very sweet. The last time I ate fondant I felt like I was eating globs of sugar.
