Hi,

Where can I find good food in London that isn't at a fancy pancy restaurant? I do not like McDonald's, BK or any of those fast food crappy restaurants. But from all I have heard from people who have visited (on t.v. mind you) they have not been impressed lol...and I refuse to believe that there are not any good affordable resturants in London:) Thanks a bunch

  1. There are some good restaurants in London at decent prices. For example, if you’re in South London, Safa in Camberwell (address: 22 Camberwell Church Street SE5 8QU) is quite elegant and reasonably priced. I’ve been there quite a few times with some friends who have tried out different dishes and they all told me it was good.

If you prefer vegetarian Indian food, then the Indian Veg in Angel Islington (address: 92-93 Chapel Market, N1 9EX) offers a vegetarian buffet for a very reasonable price (£3.50 last time i checked). It’s a friendly place but it gets busy so go early on Friday and Saturday nights to get a table.

  2. Indian Veg in Angel 3.50 all you can eat.

Wagamamas on every street corner almost about 7 pounds a dish. You'll find one in angel and one in liecester sq

Le Mercure in Angel - AMAZING French cuisine for ordinary prices.

El Molino on Holloway Road - Spanish Tapas, average dish is about 4 pounds but they also do full dishes.

Nid Ting on Upper Holloway Road - ABsolutely amazing Thai food and very well priced. Good reviews in timeout too.

Yo Sushi - again they are everywhere and dishes range from 1.50 - 5 pounds. Really informal but an excellent experience and they do lots of non fish dishes too. I know of one in angel, one on haymarket road, one next to the trocadero in piccadilly circus and one in brent cross shopping centre. This is upmarket fast food if that is what you are looking for.

All of these places are the type of place you could pop into off of the street in jeans.
