Football riddle please help?

Question

What enters the field of play in a football match at half-time,but doesn't leave until the match is over? On a Saturday it leaves after the game,but in mid-week it stays until the next day-and its only in the English Premier League.

The floodlights because they don't get turned off until after midnight for midweek games.

^ It can't be though, its ONLY in the EPL, just about everyteam has floodlights

tony this gets posted about once a month with no satisfactory answer ever given, so it makes me think its bogus, the best i have ever come up with is darkness, shadows, because it certainly isn't a person or tangible object.

and i have yet to see the poster of the question  award best answer or give the answer.
