  1. Don't do it!  That's my advice.  First of all, why make a problem you don't have.  When you are 18 you can make your own choices around that.  For now you are someone else's responsibility and she already gave you the right guidance on it.   As a parent, if my teenager defies me,  I make sure they lose out enough so they will think twice next time.  That usually means they get grounded and lose privileges for a day to a week.  If it involved a belly piercing, I'd take away the jewelry and keep it bandaged with antibiotics until it closed if they went ahead with doing that.

BTW, not african american, but I am a parent of teenagers and NONE of them have piercings, why?  I don't like the idea of infected belly buttons, and it seems like an area that would be prone to infections.  Ears, okay.

  2. well I am not african american. And I am a soon to be parent. (couple more months) So I can't help you on that end. However I am experienced with piercings, and lemme tell ya. You do NOT want to do that yourself. It's just not a good Idea. And I agree that it will cause problems with your parents. maybe you could wait a little while. (and wear them down in the meantime) They don't like the idea of their little girl growing up. :)

  3. My husband, (who is black/African American), said he would beat your a s s. I personally would let him handle it if my daughter would do such a thing. (I would then proceed to take everything of value away from her for at least a month. I would then not allow her to drive until she is 18.) Defiance is something you should not do to your parents after they spend all their life just trying to feed you. It only takes one thing to lose trust, to get it back, takes many things and maybe many years. Just wait 4 years when you can get it done legally, and your parents wouldnt be able to do anything about it.

  4. I would tell you you need to buy some pillows. You are going to need them!
