Any one from Connecticut, I need help for my project. We are researching brownfields and i found that the Meridan State Police Headquarters is on a brownfield. Does anyone know more about this? And where can i find more information?

  1. I don't know, All I can tell you is the State Police office in Meriden is right across from the Merriden Mall and is very easy to spot.  It is made up of a "campus" of several buildings and also includes the dog training facility.  Just get off the mall exit on 691 and you'll see it (maybe on the back side of the mall).  But it's attached to a medical center as well.  Don't know what a brown field is exactly though.

When researching an area around here at one time, I went down to the town hall and got map info on a contaminated plume of underground water and with some work traced the contamination source and plotted the plume back for a number of years. So check town hall, check newspaper archives on stories about the spot and what use to be there (a mill or industrial site?) Any relevant history in the library; they frequently have a lot of that in reference. Voting history; is that why the town put a municipal building there? They knew it was a problem area. Health effects of the pollutants found?
