  1. I have had the implant for about 2 1/2 months and have not noticed any weight gain. I asked my gyno about this before I got it, I was considering my options. I stated that I didn't like the pill because I am terrible at remembering to take it and I gained weight when I was on it before. She told me that no form of birth control actually causes weight gain. She said that the hormones in the birth control may affect your mood, make you depressed or sad or happy or whatever and that can affect your weight. Meaning if you are a person who eats when depressed or sad or basically eats based on your moods, then that is why you gain or lose weight after starting a new birth control. She said absolutely it is not the birth control itself. I don't know if I actually believe that but it does make sense. When I was on the pill years ago, it was a bad time in my life and I am a comfort eater. Meaning I comfort myself with food. I did gain a lot of weight that year. Since I have had the implant, I have not gained even one pound and I haven't really been paying too much attention to trying to diet or anything. I generally try not to eat too much terrible food and drink more water than soda but I'm not focused on it or anything.

I have read that some women with the implant have issues where their body mimics pregnancy, they gain weight and have the symptoms of pregnancy, maybe that is what is causing your weight gain?
