I was looking at some older ford expeditions (97-02). All of the paint on these cars look brand new. Even on my Windstar. In your opinion does ford have the best paint?

  1. umm not ford paint on the hoods of their cars is one of the worst for oxidizing....and im not saying that to be mean about fords because believe it or not i love them...we own two an 03 f150 4x4 supercrew and a 98ford escort..and we also own to hondas...we have started buying hondas because the trade in value is so much higher....now the paint on the escort hood looks like c**p..it has to be polished twice to get a nice shine..not gorgeous..just something other than a dull rainbow which is how it looks without the polish its a black car...they just dont hold their age well in paint..sorry i disagree with you...and its been a known fact for years that their paint oxides faster than other car makers

  2. the more expensive models have better paint, like Thunderbird and Lincoln

  3. I've always kinda wondered the same thing... I've got two 97's sitting in my driveway right now. One a f-150 which looks brand new and shiny.

and the other is a dodge intrepid and the hood of that thing is horrible... all of the clearcoat is peeled off.

My girlfriends parents bought the dodge new, I know it's been taken care of (washing, waxing, ect) The ford i bought a couple years ago, I don't know how well it was taken care of.

  4. With proper car any car's paint job can look brand new.  Ford is no exception.  I doubt Ford's paint better than any other company's paint.

  5. I bet they're all equal now, but I have noticed that Fords from the late nineties do have good paint and their headlights don't have that yellow haze most other cars that old do.
