Foreign medical schools?

Why is it that Americans who graduated from a medical school in the Philippines are granted licenses and privileges in the U.S., but Filipino classmates are not?

I'm not sure about medical school, but I know of several nurses who went to nursing school in the Philippines and now have jobs at hospitals in the U.S.

There is a shortage of nurses in the U.S. and hospitals are in need of more nurses so are hiring all the time.

It is categorized by citizenship, residency status and then visa sponsorship requirements. Additionally one of the exams that is administered by the ECFMG Examination Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates tests for verbal and comprehension skills in the English language that all foreign medical graduates have to take regardless of their citizenship status. Native English speaking Americans graduates of foreign institutions tend to ace this exam and therefore end up with better positions than their peer graduates. The English exam is meant to ensure that foreign medical graduates are able to communicate effectively with American patients fluently and they don’t miss interpret words or lexicon that is unique to English speaking Americans.

There is a medical school one mile south of the US Mexico border that is run by American board certified doctors teaches in English and you can live in the US and commute about 3 miles to the school from the US side of the border, they even have a luxury greyhound type inter campus shuttle their number is 1-877-4-med school    or      1-877 463 3724

You can do your rotations in American teaching hospitals. The entire program is 36 months accelerated or the traditional 48 months. Why travel to far away lands when you can live in the US?

I think you are making presumptions.  Any medical student, regardless of nationality or where they attended school, has to pass the US Medical Licensing Exams.  Nobody is 'granted' anything.  Since the first exam, Step One, is all Basic Sciences, your observations seem to indicate that the Filipino schools do not have sufficient emphasis on science.

Are the Filipino classmates from the Philippines or U.S.  If they are from the Philippines, then it is because the U.S. gives more privileges to its own citizens.
