you want Mpeg 4 . MP3 is a music format. go to doom9.org or just google free video converter programs.

No, I don't think it's possible. Mp3 is for music. If you convert a video into mp3, I think only the sound will work and you won't be able to see the images.

MP3 is an audio format - if you "convert" a video to MP3 you'll lose the picture. The name stands for MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3, if you're interested.

Perhaps he meant MP4 (or "MPEG-4 Part 14" if you have too much time on your hands). This is a video format. Actually, it's a file container format, that can store video, audio, subtitles, and so forth.

The software you would need for this depends on what video format you're starting with. Handbrake might be useful.
