Forms of ID for travel?

What other forms of ID are accepted for travelling from the UK to the Republic Of Ireland?

I don't think my passport is going to arrive in time but apparently there is other forms of ID?!?

  1. If you're travelling by air, check with the airline - most airlines will insist on a passport or driver's licence, if you're  a student they may accept an ISIC card or student ID but check with the airline first.  ID requirements to travel by ferry are less stringent but you should still carry something that clearly identifies you.


  2. anything with a picture of you on it is classed as an ID, I use a garda ID (I'd had it since I turned 18 for getting served in a pub) when going over to England from Ireland, it just has my name and picture on it but it can't be faked so they know it's real. other forms are drivers license but not everyone has one of those. or student ID. if you have none of those ring the airline and ask them what do you bring. I've never needed ID going on the ferry.
