We don't know what species it is. And there are no nests nearby. Any suggestions on how to take care of it? its eyes are still closed and it has no feathers. We can't get to a bird center, there are none nearby.

  1. follow your sister's advice for now. Please keep the bird in a warm area as it has no protection w/o its wings. Good luck and let us know what happens!

  2. Get a box with a lamp and make a nest for it until you can take it to someone that knows how to take care of it.. google also =]

  3. This has happened to me as well, we thought the bird was injured so we took down to the vets and the vet said it was ok and that we should just make sure it is safe and comfortable then leave it in a place in which it could fly away if it wanted to

  4. take him to the vet, they know how to care for the bird proporly intill he is old enough to be on his own.

  5. Take it to a local vet. They know what needs to be done until it can be released into the wild again. I found a bird a couple of years ago and every day I would feed it worms and on day I went out to feed it with a couple of worms and found it dead. The best thing to do is just take it to a vet.

  6. You should find out what kind of bird it is especially by posting a picture on here, or  narrow it down by looking around at what birds live in your yard.

Most baby birds will need a place to keep it warm and lighted. You will need to feed it by yourself. Look on youtube for baby pigeons, or baby birds and you should see some examples.

  7. i have had much sucess with the few baby bay birds i have come up on and first let me state that it is like raising a newborn...you can get baby bird food at a pet store that sells birds you will need to follow there instuctions for mixing ...use a eyedropper and you will half to insert it down into its throat if it is well enough it sill probably be hungry and do it for its self...try not to ovber feed !! though most will no longer want or try to open wide when full...do a little at a time waiting 15 min between feedings around the clock...that is how long it takes the parents to catch or make there food digestiable...i suggest that you allow the baby bird to sleep with you as well the like hair and surprisingly wont p**p in it if you get up as soon as the bird does and then put it on a towel...it will and should p**p about every time you feed it and that should be removed...immediatly ....it is a give or take thing .. if it lives it lives just remember just becouase it can fly doesnt mean it has learned to get its own food so dont abandon it to early ...i raised to baby robins sucessfully and up until it no longer came to me for food ...when and if it gets bigger mimic other birds as best you can and let it outside ....treat it like a newborn and once you figure out what type of bird it is you can learn and go from there...i live in a very rural part of town ....on vet town and luckily the pet store....a bird that young would probably be better off allways close to your chest for the warmth and heart sounds...good luck it is very tedious work but well worth it whenb they are flying around and come land on you r head...

  8. First thing is to make him warm. Get a box and put a heating pad set on low under it. then make a makeshift nest out of a bowl. (coolwhip bowl is good). Do not give water it will kill him. He will aspirate it. Go to pet store and get bird handfeeding formula. Mix likes it says. Use a 1 cc syringe or end of a popsicle stick and feed him when he is warmed up and gaping for food. Make sure it goes down his throat past his tongue. Dont just stick it in his mouth. His best chance for survival is his parents. If you have any idea where the nest was make a makeshift nest and put somewhere safe tie to branch of tree. See if parents come back. or take to wildlife rehabber. Vets can refer you to one close to you some are even willing to pick up. Good luck to you. And hats off to you for trying. :)
