Found some baby kitten's. ?

Question

I found some baby kittens they look like they are a week or 2 weeks old. I am just wondering how much I should feed them a day? I have taken care of kittens be for but not when they lost there mother..

if you buys kittens milk powder formula it should tell you on the back of the container but trust me you will have your hands full!

It is a lot of work taking care of 1 - 2 week old kittens.  Where did you find them? (outside, I presume).  It might be better to leave them alone to wait and see (for a few hrs. to a day) if the mother cat will come back for them.

If they've already been handled and removed from their hiding place, you should still keep a lookout for their mother. She could be homeless and needs help.  But as for the kittens, they will need to be kept warm (with a water bottle or low-voltage heating pad designed for pets) in a box lined with a soft towel. Make sure they have enough room to get *away* from the heat in case it gets too warm for them.  

They will need to be fed a kitten milk replacement formula (NO cows' milk) from a kitten-sized pet nurser bottle every 2 or 3 hours *around the clock*. Let them eat until their tummies are full and round -- they will let you know when they've had enough.  You will also need to stimulate their bowels with a warm, wet cotton ball after each feeding.  This simulates the mother's l*****g the urogenital area, otherwise the kittens will become blocked and die.  Make sure that the temperature of the kitten formula is neither too hot or too cold -- the closer to their natural body temperature, the better.

Typically kittens' eyes will open around 10 days to two weeks.  You can -start- introducing them (very gradually) to solid food starting around the age of three or four weeks, with crushed dry kitten food (or pureed canned cat food) added to the milk formula to a thin, pasty-like gruel consistency (like watery oatmeal).  Reduce the amount of milk formula gradually over the next two weeks or so. You can also try mixing dry kitten food with water. Kittens typically grow very quickly and will pretty much wean themselves between the age of 6 to 8 weeks.

It is important to take them to the vet and ask for advice. They will be able to supply you with feeders. They need a mothers milk but as with babies you can get formula. Well done for being responsible and taking the baby cats on. They will be a handful, but it will be very rewarding for you.
