  1. It depends where you buy it, it ranges from 1.26 € to 1.74 € a liter but on average it's 1.30 € to 1.40 € outside motorways.

It's called gazole in France. Check the areas you'll be travelling through and compare the local prices. On motorways, Esso stations are usually the cheapest but a comparative price chart is given along the road so you can decide where to stop next.

And to check toll prices go to http://www.autoroutes.fr/en/homepage.htm...

According to this chart from June 29 2008, prices are cheaper in France (1.34€) than in the UK  (1.61€), the UK having the second highest prices in Europe after Norway: http://www.autocar.co.uk/forums/t/2553.a...

The euro just went down so it should be even cheaper now for you than it was 2 months ago.

  2. I'm currently working in Toulouse. Petrol costs between 1.40 Euros and 1.55 Euros.

With the current exchange rate, fuel is slightly cheaper in the UK.
