  1. The French holiday season for school children has just finished so the roads are quieter than they have been. There is still a lot of activities taking place at weekends such as fetes and music festivals, but most end to be local events.

While it is true that a lot of small garages shut on Sundays, the majority of the local shops and all supermarkets are now open on Sunday mornings.

You will find plenty to do every day without having to work at finding something to do.

Travel on the ferries is usually cheaper if you avoid weekend sailings.

  2. For the purposes of travel, it's much cheaper to travel in the weekend.  The same ferry crossing on a Saturday is up to £150 more than sailing on a Wednesday this time of year.

As for things to do, the French are different to us.  They tend to do more things in the evenings rather than save it up for the weekend.

Although the weekends are busier than weekdays, I don't think you'll ever find yourself short of things to do.

Except Sundays, where everywhere seems to close!

  3. I would make an internet search on the places youre going to visit - see whats on  and where, then make a comparison with the flight / ferry times and cost it out to your benefit.
