Question:

Free Upgrade for a cruise cabin?

I already booked an inside cabin with carnival, but I was wondering if there's any way I could get a free upgrade. I've heard some people get lucky and they get upgraded, but is it only a matter of luck?

  1. umm if the cruise isnt full they might and someitmes they run specials where they will atomatically upgrade you but that option seems to be out of the window there. but if there is an room upgrade open they might do it or you can ask once you get on the ship go to the concierge and ask once the cruise starts to leave, thats what we asked but they didnt have anymore rooms open because the cruise was full.

  2. Don't worry about an outside cabin, I don't think you'll be in your room except to sleep. I went on a cruise a few yrs ago and we were never in the room, too many other things to do!

have fun....and it won't hurt to check!

  3. I would hate having inside cabins because you have no window or nothing but what you can do is call the cruise line and see if they could upgrade you and see how much the price difference is and then if you want it then pay the difference depending on when the cruise is and etc. Otherwise its just kind of you asking and it never hurts to ask because you could get really lucky.

  4. Normally upgrades are only offered at the time of booking and then it is an upgrade within the class, so inside stateroom to inside stateroom on a higher deck, oceanview stateroom to oceanview stateroom on a higher deck.

Like the earlier respondant stated, don't worry about it too much.  Unless you decide to hide in your stateroom, which if you do you should just book a hotel, you wont be in your room except to sleep, change clothes, and shower.  There is just too much going on to hide.

  5. We just got back from a cruise on Carnival.  I just kept bugging my agent (I booked through Carnival) and we got a great upgrade free.....if you don't ask, you don't receive.

By the way, loved our cruise....can't wait to go again.

  6. Upgrades are sometimes given if the ship is under booked, but buying upgrades is really a waste of money, as many posters say you only sleep and shower in the cabin Just got back from Hawaii, was upgraded twice same trip, friend is my travel agent

  7. Sometimes, but most times, your travel agent would keep checking with the cruise line to get you bumped up.  If you booked with expedia or cruise.com, its not going to happen
