Free golf lessons declared a success!
This year, free golf lessons were given out during the ISPS Handa Ladies British Masters with great success. The gesture was greatly appreciated by all the concerned parties.
In total, 120 lessons were given out by various golf coaches to people of all skill levels. This included beginners to experienced amateurs. The lessons were given by the Berks, Bucks & Oxfordshire Golf Partnership (BB&O), a well known promoter of golf among
the youth.
This year, the BB&O tied this series of golf lessons to their year-long initiative known as ‘Get into Golf’. The purpose of this program is to generate interest in golf in the local communities. The idea is to bring people of all ages and backgrounds to
the golf course and encourage them to take up golf as a serious sport.
The premise behind the program is that golf is an easy to learn sport that requires careful coaching in the initial stages. Many people who take up golf leave it because of the frustration that they experience while learning the game on their own.
To counter this outflow, the BB&O has collaborated with the top PGA professionals and coaches to deliver free lessons to the potential golfers. The idea is to provide these players with initial golf training, which would get them started.
The golf lessons delivered during the ISPS Handa Ladies British Masters were part of this drive.
Talking about the lessons, Sam Round, the BB&O representative said,  “We have been able to raise the awareness of our Get into Golf programme, which aims to encourage new participants into the game of golf, as well as encouraging people to experience good
quality coaching from our PGA professionals”.
These lessons were another reason behind the large crowd at the golf club. Many budding golfers came to take advantage of the professionals and learned something that would prove useful next time they hit a ball.
Appreciating the response of these golfers, Sam Round said, “The enthusiasm for the activity we provided was very encouraging,7 with lessons being fully booked on two of the days and has meant we can make positive steps to continuing the programme next year”.
