many times now i've been told that water in pubs, clubs and cafes is only available in bottles, i've always thought that, legally, you could ask for water and expect it to be free. am i misguided?

  1. Only in some restaurants.  In many cases you have to ask for a glass of water.  To make things easier on everyone, I order coffee, iced tea, or soda, and ask for a glass of water if it is not provided.

  2. therse a law they either have to have a water fountain or free water if a restraunt

  3. You're right, they should certainly give you water for free

  4. Although It would be unreasonable to refuse somebody tap water, it is not illegal and you can charge for Ice. the use of a glass and your time in serving it. It depends on the circumstances. If a group of people were enjoying a restaurant or bars facilities and demanding free water then you can refuse. i cant imagine anyone refusing tap water to somone who is choking or eating at your restaurant. In the UK a licencee can refuse admission to his establishment any person and he is not required to give a reason. So there are a number of ways around it.

  5. if you go a a "place" they could sell you "air" if they wanted to...

you are going to a buisness they can charge you for using the restroom if they want.....and legally. "NO" you are not entitled to free nothing........by simple common sense you cant deny a glass of water to nobody in the world.

  6. yes. they can always give you a glass of water

  7. Of course you can! Free is good. ;-)

  8. if its only available in bottles than maybe not

  9. I could be wrong, but think it's an offence to deny someone water. It bloody well should be!

  10. technically no water is free when you ask for water it is the job of the people working at the places to sell you something that is how they make money. The resturaunts are charged for water most city charge by amount used plus the cost of making the ice that goes in your water, and if you want lemon , well have you seen the price of lemons ? So it is actually costing them money if you ask for water plus with the way water is now days do you really want to drink tap water?  Besides these establishments are there to make money if it is really that much of a problem there are sinks located in the bathroom ask for a glass of ice and fill it yourself in the bathroom.

  11. WHAT has this to do with "dining out"?

  12. Yes they can pour you a glas of water, But they want you to buy it, and after a couple of drinks most people don't realize that. So just ask them to get you water or you will go elsewere, they will give you a glass

  13. Yes you are.

  14. They have free water. Im sure they have some running water to clean with and probably some ice and cups. Thats ridiculous. Might also be against the law because people can easily dehydrate or choke and if their isnt any free water around it could pose medical problems.

  15. Ask for tap water if you want free.  So many people order bottled water now that it is sometimes "assumed" that is what you want.

  16. you're right...

  17. Say it's for your drunk friend and they'll fork it over! I've never had problems getting soda, so you'd think water would be pretty easy. Another one - say you're DD (this may not work if you just ordered 5 beers though).
