  1. Freecycle isn't really a charity organization. It's main purpose is to keep household clutter from being thrown away and landing up in the landfills.

Members post "Wanted" messages for what they need or would like to have. Other members reply that they have some they can have.  If someone has stuff around the house they no longer need, they post an "Offer" message and members who would like to have it reply .  The member offering the items then selects who they want to give them to and makes pick up arrangements. Example: I needed a waffle maker and posted a "Wanted" message. I got several replies from members who had one they no longer used. I selected one, make arrangements for pick up, went and got it and am now using it.  That's one waffle maker that did not land up in the landfill.

You could try to join again and give your reason as "I have lots of good household items that I no longer need that others might be able to use.

If you are approved for membership, you can post an "Offer" for your children's clothes.  You would be surprised at how many members will contact you wanting to receive them.  Before you post an offer, be sure to read how the other members word their messages so you will get an idea of how it works.

If you are accepted as a member, you will receive an email from the group moderator with the "Do's and Don'ts".  The groups' messages are moderated and have to be approved by the group owner/moderator before they are posted to group site.

I hope this gives you an idea of the purpose of FreeCycle.
