  1. If you go to annualcreditreport.com,  they give you your credit report from all 3 credit companies for free.  There is no need to fill in your credit card numbers

  2. It is not a scam, at least not exactly. The way it works is that you get 1 free month of membership, and after that, you get charged each month (something like $14 or so, I forgot how much exactly). You initially have to sign up with a bank account or debit card connected to it, but they say they won't charge it until your free trial period is up, and if you dont want to be charged, you can just cancel it within that month.

The problem is that it is very difficult to cancel it... It took me 6 months to cancel it, and they refused to give me my money back. You have to call them to get them to close your account, and for some reason, they say your account is closed, but it never is. And if you call them later and say you closed it the previous month, they lie and say they have no record you called previously, but will cancel it now... but they don't... I actually had to close my bank account to get the charges to stop.

And then they felt the need to call me and say that since the payment was rejected, they wanted a credit card to continue payments. To which I cursed them out and threatened to sue if they call me again.

So I would NOT recommend them ever to anyone.

  3. Listen to what Jaxin has said.  They get people on that "free 30 day trial" like all other companies do.  It's like being a Tuna, once they hook you, they won't let you go and want to land you for a lot of money!!!

The only real for free credit report web site is

    https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/i...

but you only get one free report a year and no FICO score (unless you want to pay a small fee) but at least you don't get suckered  into a contract.

Having a credit monitoring service is a good idea either way.  Just pick one that gives you 24/7 access to your credit report and also your real FICO score.  The good ones don't come cheap, but if someone does try to open an account without you knowing it, you will be sparred the problem of identity theft and the CRA will contact you quickly.  Some will even call  or text you right away.

    Hope this answers your question.

  4. Nope it's totally legitimate and they're trying to get more people interested in looking at their credit with their cheesey commercials via the guy on guitar. Go for it.

  5. Technically, it is not a scam. It is just dishonestly marketed and they are notorious for "forgetting" to cancel your membership before the free trial period is up.
