I need suggestions for canter music, preferably a 3 beat track. Any ideas? I have software that can slow it down/speed it up so thats not an issue!

  1. Try a waltz of some type, such as the 'Waltz of the Flowers" from the Nutcracker Suite. All waltzes are written in 3/4 time- that's what makes them waltzes- and the emphasis is on the downbeat, which is also true of a horse's canter. As an alternative, you might also consider the final section of the "Spring" movement in Vivaldi's Four Seasons Overture- that section is short, but it is in classic 3/4 time, and easy to ride to.

Basically, any piece of music in 3/4 time is canter music- one of my personal favorites is a version of Pachelbel's Canon in D Major. There is something about that music which just speaks to me whenever I hear it- it says "come and celebrate". What better music could there be for riding in competition?

Good luck, I hope that helped.
