  1. citizen (english) =citoyen (french)

Thus the line in the national Anthem (La Marseillaise) which says "Aux armes, citoyens" meaning To arms, citizens!

  2. i confirm that you say citoyen (masculine form) and citoyenne (feminin form).

i disagree the other person that say it's not often used...it's a very common word in french language....

i must also precise that this word that is a noun is now often used as an adjective

ex: "avoir un comportement citoyen" means having a behaviour that can benefit to the country....

  3. les citoyens français

  4. Les Français (the French)

    Un Français (a French man)

    Une Française (a French woman)

  5. Citoyen (masculine: citoyen français)

    Citoyenne (femenine: citoyenne française)

It's a word not often used anymore, except usually in a politicians speech!

    Usually the terms are just

    un français (masculine)

    une française (feminine)

  6. Official term:

    -Les citoyens Francais

    Familiar:

    -Les Francais du coin

-Les Francais pure souche (talking against immigration)

    -Les Gaulois

    -Francais de chez nous

-Les Frenchies (talking in anglo atmosphere)
