Freshman in college....work or play?

Im going to college bout 1:30 awy from were i live & work.ive have dieing for this promotion that they kept promising me but told me to wait.i told them months ago tht i was going away for school so if they wanted to promote id stay close but they didnt tell me till a week before i have to leave tht they really need me to take that promotion..but now i already put the deposit down for skool and i told them i was leaving in a week and they acting surprised...and angry ( i reminded them every week for 3 months that id be leaving and would work vaca and every other weekend.....the are mad and will only promote me if i come home EVERY weekend to work frid. sat and sun....this wud really help me acheive my dream job if i took the promotion but the whole reason im going away to college is to have tht experience, cant have tht if im wrkin every weekend...any advice on what i shud do?

If it was me, I wouldn't do it. I'd want to have my weekends (at least some of them) available to do the college thing. (football games, parties, ect...) If they truley wanted you for that position they would have offered it to you sooner. This appears to be an attempt to hold on to a compatent employee so the company won't have to train anyone else. Go to school, be a college freshman, work every other weekend so you'll have some extra cash, and enjoy the next four years. Good luck.
