Front Load Washer? ?

Question

Do those who have them love them or hate them? The salesman recommends for the efficiency and it really spins the water out more so the dryer time is less too. What do those who have them think? Do your clothes rinse well in them? I have sensitve skin to detergents and noticed the one where I rented was bad about rinsing even wtih extra rinse cycle, it was the stackable GE though. The one we might buy is a larger capacity from Frigidaire.

Be very very careful... I don't recommend them. I hope you will read these stories and think about it before you buy. It can be a nightmare , I know from experience...

Thank you Travelinnomad. I answer these front load questions often and get thumbs downed and jeered. Even though some will admit that their washer stinks and they have to perform constant rituals on them and leave the doors open in an attempt to keep them from running you out of the house,some of these front loader owners love them anyway. I just do not get it. I personally expect my clothes to come out cleaner and cleaner smelling when they come out of the wash than when they went in. I don't like the idea of washers that use less water. It's common sense that more water means cleaner clothes. Besides you can't use enough water to equal the extra cost of these machines especially when you factor in having to wash in hot water,running empty loads and special cleaning tablets to keep them from smelling etc.

As Boggy has stated, we may have this issue because we use more cold water to wash. I know I like to wash in cold and hang dry. Hot water is very expensive and I thought the point of all these HE sets was to conserve anyway. It can't be that efficient to have to wash in hot water all the time or else your washer smells. I only wash towels and extremely dirty clothes in hot water. Hot water also fades clothing much quicker than cold water.I have never had any of my top loaders with an agitator smell of mold or any other foul thing and  I've never had my agitator ruin any of my clothing either.

I cannot understand all the US comments about front loaders smelling.  We have used them in UK and Europe for generations.  We tend to always leave the doors slightly ajar (not noticeably so) and just don't get this problem.  I wonder if it is because (as I have noticed on this site) that US users tend to use cold water to wash?  We very very rarely do this in UK, only if it was a very precious article and then we would probably wash by hand.  Perhaps your front loaders are made differently to ours (unlikely - basically they must be the same) so this is a mystery to me.  My first washer was a top loader and I noticed it wore the clothes out (catching on the agitator I suppose) and used a vast amount of water.  I was glad to get rid of it as front loaders are much more gentle on the clothes and seem to get them cleaner.

I have a maytag front loader washer. It runs less noisy and more efficiently, as you may have already heard, and it has a door lock feature that keeps anyone from accidentally(or purposely) opening the washer and having water flood from it. I really enjoy the Maytag washer, and it's been working great for years, has many wash features, including gentle. It also accepts powder detergent or liquid, and both work just fine. The slots that feed the laundry soap and softener are easy to access and designed well to allow for quick loads with just the right amount of things needed. If you have any more questions about it, don't hesitate to ask!

everyone I know that has one does not like them. There is a musty odor they can't get rid of and all mfgs have already admitted that this is an issue. (even keeping the door open does not work)Use a regular washer. 1/2 the price,no smell and chances are you do not do enough laundry to see your return on investment  on this appliance. It is just a fad.

I  have a LG tromm, and I love it. Mine dosen't take that long to dry.
