Question:

Fruit Fly Problems!!!! ?

I live in an apartment in San Diego, and I've had a problem with fruit flies for over a month. They're only in my kitchen, and it's not like I have swarms of them. But there's always a few around. I've scrubbed every inch of that kitchen with bleach, including behind the fridge. I don't keep fresh fruit around, and I keep my dishes done. I don't know where they're coming from, and it's driving me insane! Does anyone have any suggestions of why they might be sticking around? And, are there any safe ways to get rid of them? I have a baby girl, and I don't want to expose her to any harsh chemicals. Thanks!

  1. They could be coming from outside or in a area that you have not been in the kitchen yet continue taking the garbage out and keeping the place clean and you will get rid of them Good Luck

  2. They're bad in a lot of places this year. Best solution I've found is a hanging trap Target sells. Nice looking and reasonable. Use a little beer in it as an attractant. The baby might even be amused by them "flying 'till they die" inside the trap.

  3. Take a small glass, put in a piece of banana, cover tightly with saran wrap with a rubber band, then poke a few small holes in the saran wrap and leave it out for a few days.  This attracks the flies into the glass, but they are unable to get out.

    Good luck!
