late next week: crescent.

On Aug. 1, there is a solar eclipse.  Best proof that this is the day of New Moon.

A few days after that, new Crescent. A week after that First Quarter.  Another week:  Full Moon again.

I like all the phases.  They provide variety over a short enough period of time.  Each phase lasts long enough to be appreciated, yet short enough that you don't get tired of it.
