Fun tourism ideas for South Carolina?

I am going to Charleston, South Carolina for almost 2 weeks, is there anything I should either know or bring before going? I know there are some nice beaches down there! And we are going canoing through the marshes in a state park one day. What kinds of tourism ideas should I look into? Thanks!
