Hi tat4u,..thankyou for your time and help!!...BUT,..on the webpage i finally ended up at( from your link,thankyou)...it gives 2 possibilities (under the BIOS heading),which i think only one of is correct to use!?......The 2 choices are;.......1. ROMPaq for HP Notebook System BIOS-DOS Bootable Diskette.2. Winflash Utility for HP Notebook system BIOS-Windows-Based.............i have an idea of the one i think but am not certain,and it has to be the right one or i could damage the notebook bios altogether!!............Do you think you know which one?...or shall i contact HP to find out?( i have emailed them before though and had no reply yet!!) ..........I will wait for your reply before commencing further if that's ok??.....many thanks sainuerummy.
