In the next 50 years there will undoubtly be changes to the current power paradigm. The questions remains if this will involve changes to existing nations and birth of new nations. Specifically how does this question relate the US, China and the Middle East, do you believe there will be new nations in place of the current ones?

  1. Personally, I don't believe so.

My perception is that the current nations will tend to form alliances with their neighbors, instead of attempting to destroy them.  And, some nations will tend toward a worldview in which they consider all of the nations in the world as their neighbors which they will support, rather than as enemies which they need to conquer.

To me, present day globalization initiatives and the continual refinement and enhancement of the European Union projects a positive feeling for the future of our current nations, which I believe will continue to want to exist in harmony with others.
