  1. It may not look this way now but Aviation will be stronger than ever 10 years from now! Airlines are in such high demand for pilots right now! They don't have nearly enough! Sure some airlines wont be around in 10 years but the major airlines now will still be around. Hopefully by then they will have found a fuel source for planes because jet fuel is becoming expensive and causing the low budget carriers to drop! I also want to be a pilot someday! So trust me aviation will still be around and stronger than ever in 10 years!!

  2. Dont listen to thy guy who says it is stronger than ever now, that just isnt true. There are alot of layoffs and compaines puting hiring on hold. Aircraft are being grounded due to high fuel prices and that means pilots are not flying as much.

In 10 years it may indeed be good. The baby boomers will be retiring and hopefully will reach a max then.

  3. i want to be a pilot too!!  dont worry they will need more pilots. its my dream to fly an airbus a380

  4. We need more pilots now than ever. Aviation is really taking off, i read somewhere that in 10 years, we're gonna need something like 3x the pilots we have now.

This is wat I perhaps want to go into

  5. i also want to be a pilot,i think they will need more pilots in the future.

  6. It is really impossible to say.  It is a very cyclical, "feast to famine" field.  Airlines usually hire..hire..hire and then furlough right after that.

Undoubtedly there will be aviation jobs 10 years from now - but how many, and what quality - that is impossible to say.  All I can tell you after being a commercial pilot for last 15 years, that - in the US at least - morale is low - people are discouraged by repeated layoffs, cutbacks, loss of pensions, mergers etc.  A lot of people who wanted to make career out of aviation left the field over the years.  Most of the current airline pilots, when asked "do you /would you encourage your children to be pilots like yourself" answer "absolutely not!".

The only reason to go and stay in this career is if you really enjoy flying and are willing to put up with lack of job security, low pay, difficult schedules etc.  If you want to do it for money, respect, or glory - these things are gone from this field.  Don't get me wrong - I still like my job and would not trade it for another - but I seem to be in a minority - most of my peers are fed up with what we have to put up with.
