  1. okay here are a few things to do.

    1. Get the smallest kind you can for your period.

    2. It will feel uncomfortable when its in cause you havent gotten it in correctly. So you have to just take it out and try again.

    3. It i will hurt when you are putting it in, cause you arent putting it in the right place, you could try using a little mirror to see what you are doing while you get used to wearing them.

It will get easier with practice. Just keep trying.

  2. That "feeling sick" you had was *fear*, and the hurt was from your muscles "down there" being clenched up because you were afraid.

There's nothing to *be* afraid of.   My stepdaughter used tampons right from her second period when she was barely 11 years old.

The "slim" ones with plastic applicators *definitely* make things easier for girls who've never used tampons before... but once you know how, anything that's comfortable to wear will be easy to insert.

Helpful advice (beyond the semi-useless package directions)? Yeah... just three things:

    1) Aim the tampon more towards your back than upwards... your v****a actually goes *back* for more than half of its length, not just up... and push it in as far as the applicator will go while you're still holding the end of it.

    2) It'll be easier to do the first time if things are slippery "down there", so don't wipe away any blood and stuff until you've got the tampon in place. If there's very little blood there, just smear a couple of drops of saliva on the tip of the tampon (or its applicator if it has one) and it'll make things a lot more comfortable.

    3) Relaxation is **important**. If relaxing isn't easy for you, try pushing just a little bit as if you're trying to p**p or pee... your pelvic muscles will relax a bit and that will help a *lot*.

There's an OK video instruction about it at

... just click on the "click here" link in the third paragraph of the page.

  3. id suggest getting a lighter tampon. its normal for it to hurt a little when it goes in but it should stop soon after.

  4. Aww..I'm sory that sux. For what it's worth you can get used to using tampons, it just takes time and practise..and a little patience.

For starting out, it's best to use lite (low absorbency) tampons with a plastic applicator which is most comfortable. Both Playtex and Tampax make them. Personally I like Playtex Gentle Glide but that is just my preference.

You also may want to get a small bottle of ky lotion and put a little on the tip of the applicator and it slips right in. You can pick it up at a drug store along with a box of tampons. Don't feel embaressed, it is totally normal to buy them both together. When I first did it, I just went into a drugstore where there was an older lady at the counter.

You relax and insert it at an angle back like you are aiming just above your tail bone. Don't be afraid to push; you can't hurt anything. Dont force it in but adjust it a bit until you get the angle right and past your muscles to a little over 2 inches in.

And I don't want to sound gross, but it may be a good idea first to insert a finger so you have a feel for how you curve.

You can try it sitting or with a foot up on the toilet. What works for me is standing with my thighs open and crouching down a bit. You can even try it lying down in bed curled with your knees apart if that's more comfy for you, just so you get it that first time.

Good luck and I hope this helped. Please feel free to email me if I can be of further help :)

  5. Ok so as wierd as this sounds, you could be putting it in wrong.... They need to go up not too high, but a reasonable amount. Therefor, you shouldn't be able to feel them.

Agreed with the other girl, try a "Light" one instead.

  6. try getting a "lite" kind. you may need to change it more often but they are small and will be more comfortable.
