Gaining weight...discomfort?

I have to gain weight because I've had anorexia for almost 2 years. I want to put on pure muscle though so I can get up the strength for crew. I am allowed an hour of exercise daily, which is much less than I was doing before when I allowed myself only to eat 800 calories a day. Now I am eating 1500 calories but I'm worried that I will gain weight from fat since I am only allowed an hour of exercise a day. On top of the hour of cardio I also do weights and crunches. I am also worried that when I start to feel fat I will stop and start to lose weight. Any advice?

  1. It is impossible to gain weight that is just pure muscle. When people talk about fat, everyone always seems to assumer overweight and obese. But the truth is, everyone has fat. Fat keeps you warm and cushions you so your bones don't get damaged.

However, if you want to put on mostly muscle weight, make sure you eat lots of protein, egg whites is about the best food you can eat. It's full of the stuff. You should eat the protein straight after your workout. Also, try to stay away from processed foods with lots of fat and sugar in them.

    Hope this helps,

    Dee xx

  2. I think you should speak to your doctor about this I am sure they can refer you to someone that specializes in this particular field. You really don't want to go back to being anorexic again.

  3. the best way is lesser your meal and drink a lot of water before eating drink one glass of water.

  4. 1500 kcals is pretty much the bare minimum you need to put on any muscle what so ever and 1 hour per day is more than enough time.  Any less calories and your exercise will be worthless anyway as your body wont be getting sufficient nourishment to build up muscle.  Thing is muscle looks better than fat, you can be toned and look great while weighing more than you ever imagined.  However sceptical you are give it a couple of months, making sure you eat what you need and YOU WILL SEE IMPROVEMENTS.

As with anyone wanting to change their lifestyle, you need to set some goals.  Set yourself some goals where your body will be on show, such as going to the pool in lets say three weeks time.  You'll already realise an untoned anorexic body looks like c**p, so that gives you three weeks to get some tone (it's not a lot of time but if you have the determination you can do it).  Then set yourslef revolving goals, so you've always got something to go for.

FYI:  I'm a 43yo male ex anorexic and bulemic (late teens), you'll never fully get rid of the mind set that made you anorexic.  You'll probably have to work at this for years to come, but with true determination you can have a great looking TONED body that's the envy of everyone in your peer group.
