Garage door opened by itself?

Question

My liftmaster, I dont know what model, opened by itself, we are suspecting someone has the same "code" or something maybe?

Or maybe the original owner of our house still has a device for the liftmaster to open?

So I'm wondering, how many devices do you get when you buy a liftmaster, right now the owner only gave us 2 so were suspecting she still has another 2...

Read the manual and change the code.

It's possible an airplane or someone with a CB radio set it off as those openers are run on radio frequencies, had the same problem with mine but mine is programmable so i changed the frequency on it and haven't had a problem since.

LiftMaster openers usually come supplied with 1 or 2 remotes - depending on model.  

That fact is immaterial, however, because any number of additional remotes may be purchased separately and the opener can be programmed to respond to them.  This author believes the max number of remotes supported on a given opener to be something like 10.

To ease your mind, clear the current remote codes from memory, and reprogram the opener for each of your remotes.

On LiftMaster openers with a "learn" button, (located on the back of the main opener case) all codes can be cleared from memory by pressing and holding the learn button for a period of about 6 seconds (until the LED light goes out.)  

You will then need to reprogram the unit for each of your remotes by pressing the learn button once - and then within 30 seconds, pressing the button on the remote you want to use.  You will need to do this for each remote you plan to use (up to 10 remotes?)

Once this is done, the opener will ONLY respond to those remotes you have deliberately programmed.

Be aware that anyone who has physical access to your opener can program the unit to recognize a remote they have in their posession - so be careful who you allow to be in your garage unsupervised.
