Gas station question?

i was wondering, if all the gas prices are high these days, but what if there was one gas station that had cheap gas prices? would they make way more money than the really expensive ones since people would go there more often because they could afford their gas? it may even put the other gas stations out of business or force the other gas stations to lower their prices. i know, i doubt it will ever happen, but i was wondering what if that did. thank you!

  1. Sometimes there is one consistently lower.

Use this Zip Code guide to find it.

  2. Ivory, the gas stations are in the same bind you and I are in.  If they sold $2.00 gas they would loose about $2.00.  The gas stations don't make but a few cents on gas, the folks who make the big money on gas are the big oil companies and their stockholders.

  3. The gas stations have a a couple of cents per gallon profit margin, so there is no room for them to lower prices. The oil companies sell ALL their gas with demand for more so why lower prices. What you are asking about would make sense if all the oil companies had a surplus of gasoline and were competing for customers.

  4. yes and no.

First the word has to get out. If a sales goes unnoticed, it is a bad business idea

Second the station has to be close enough to make a difference.  I once calculated that many stations in my country were way too far, and any money I save in fill up, I would waste it in traveling.

Third, many people still complain but does NOT shop around for cheap gas.

    Good Luck....
