Gear box max load, physics?

I have a gear box with 303 lbs-foot torque and i need it to turn a sprocket with a 7.51 inch diameter, which will lift 764 pounds, how do i tell how much weight this will be able to handle

  1. If I visualize this correctly, the sprocket with a radius of 3.75" has to lift a weight of 764 lbs, which is 2865 lbs-inch or 239 lbs-ft.

    So you should be ok.

    working the other way, 303 ft-lbs = 0.3125 ft x W

    W = 970 lbs
