Gender and memories...?

Accourding to Marianne J. Legato MD Men and women are different in every body system including the brain. Because of higher blood flow to some areas of the brain and due to higher concentrations of estrogen women's memories are superior to men. One way is in the spoken word, women remember verbal arguments better than men as well as things they've heard read aloud. Also unpleasant, frightening or stressful experiences are better recalled by women, remembering such an event can even cause a woman to re-experience sadness and agitation.

What are your thoughts on this?

I personally think from my experience that men and women just remember certain things better.

I have to agree, when I think about my past and my life I find that it is quit true!

I totally agree. My mother who is in her 60's can remember who gave her what gifts at her wedding shower. I can't remember my children's birthdays.

Speaking from personal experience I would have to agree with this finding....maybe it's also  the reason women hold grudges longer. lol

How very interesting. My thoughts on this really are that we are just at the very beginning of understanding the way the brain, mind, memories and all the wonderful workings of our individual 'super computers' do what it is they do.

It's taken us centuries to figure out the workings of our physical body, and we have not even got that worked out.

Figuring out the mind is going to be an amazing challenge and I'm sure there will be so wrong turning, good duesses and big surprises before we're through!

I wonder if this applies to all women?  Most gender studies find that there are always some women (usually around 20 percent) whose brains act like a man's would in whatever study and vice-versa.   So I wonder if some men have memories as keen as most women's?

Do you know the answer to this?

If you have any of that stuff left over this fall I sure would like to have a load of  it to put in my garden when i get ready to till the soil again.

The price for having extraordinary memories. I have never forgotten anything in my life but when I remind my brothers they forgot. I never paid attention to that.

I think it just depends on the person, I'm male but I remember absolutely everything, even from when I was little.
