  1. I used FamilyTree DNA first, because they are geared almost entirely to Genetic Genealogy which was my primary interest, incidentally, they do the testing for the Genographic project, I then, for $15, transferred my results of the Y-DNA and mtdna tests across, simply to add to the Genographic data base. I suspect that many people are somewhat surprised by their results, nobody actually originates from

the area their ancestors have lived in for perhaps several hundreds of years, my own haplogroup is comparatively rare in Europe, only 2-3% of the population, yet I know my history goes back at least 750 years in England. The whole subject is fascinating and information is being gleaned from results, almost daily, and the more people that test the greater that knowledge will be. If you are interested FTDNAs link is

http://familytreedna.com  They have a lot of information there.
