Gerbil just had babies!

Question

my gerbil just had babies! i have had the 2 gerbils for like a year and thought they were both females! but one just had 2 babies and i dont know how to tell which one is the mom because they were both moving around and were not near the babies!

Best to get the dad out right away, as it's common for him to mate with the mother right after she's done getting birth, and then she'll get pregnant again.

Apart from that, there isn't much you need to do.  Make sure mom has plenty of good food and water.  You can handle the babies as long as mom seems okay with it, and just make sure to wash your hands first so you don't pass them any bacteria.  It's not really important to handle them much until their eyes open (So they're social) but I usually like to handle them every day if I have a foster litter just so I can check each baby over and make sure they're doing okay.
