I was going to go to Germany for a year to nanny. I would get paid very very well, I will be 19 when I go, but should I go straight to university and then Germany after, or Germany first for the money and experience, then school?

  1. I agree with the first answer GO TO GERMANY FIRST !!!!  then go to the University, or go to school there!

When I left high school a thousand years ago, 1970 AD. I went to Munchen Germany in September  went to live with my grand mother plus avoid  going  to Viet Nam  to join in the killing.  I did  know  how long I would stay. After a month I got a job, then came the  October Fest, largest  Bier fest  in the world. Then the snow fell and I hit the slopes of the Bavarian Alps. Skiied my  #%$ off. Picked up the language easily, made freinds deicieded to let  my return ticked  fall through  and  stayed to enjoy freedom and  a life  I never knew I could have.  When the snow was gone in spring I hitched south to the Greek islands, aplace  which looks like heaven.

I did go back home after 2 years of  travel and  26 countries as far south as East Africa. Tried  school, did not like it a whole lot. Hit the road again to South America. Loved it. Travel changed my life. It will certianly  change yours too. Learn as many languages as you can. Your year in Germany will do you good and prepare you for a beter start in school.  Enjoy.

  2. Go to Germany for a year first, definitely.   You'll get a great life experience and you'll pick up enough german to test out of a semester or three of your language requirement.

  3. That is really up to you to decide. It would vary per person's life. If you can afford to take a year off from school I would go now while you can and enjoy it. You will love it there! I did and go back almost every year since then.

School will be there next year and I found personally taking a couple years off I did better than I would have if I went straight from HS, just don't take too much time off or you may forget your Algebra!!

So go if you can I say!
