Given how the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 captain had missed out on a major portion of the previous season due to injuries. It seems like his Euro campaign might have been cut short, before it even began.
This is because the midfielder played only forty five minutes against Norway, which made many question his match fitness.
However, the England captain has now revealed that he was never going to play the full game and that he came off at the half time break, since that was the plan all along.
When talking about the game and his substitution, Gerrard is reported to have said: "It was always the plan for me to play 45 minutes. I had a bit of a tight hamstring towards the end of the season"
"I missed a couple of games towards the end. But I'm fine, I've come through 45 minutes and I'm raring to go next week."
Gerrard then went on to claim that he was quite happy with his side picking up the win in the game against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Norway-c2974, since it was going to help the team’s confidence and get them on track for the Euro 2012.
He then went on to hail Ashley Young and the impact that he had in the game.
"We are really pleased with Ashley's performance and I thought him and Andy look decent together," Gerrard said.

"Ashley is a good player and when he plays that withdrawn role off the front man and gets in between the lines, he is very dangerous and skilful.”
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 now need to try and learn from their last game, as they look to build for the upcoming competition. The team needs to look at what went right and what didn’t work out for them.
At the same time, Roy Hodgson needs to realize just what players are going to prove to be more influential and which ones are going to need to be benched in the coming games.
