Get into roller hockey shape?

I'm 17, 6'2 210lbs. I want to play college roller hockey. I believe it is a club team. I have a few months to get in shape, and I play at a local rink once or twice a week. I belong to a gym and I'm looking for workouts to strengthen legs and increase endurance.

I've been playing for about 10 years on and off. Any suggestions will help alot, Thanks.

  1. Definitely do the plyometrics the first guy mentioned.  Work in some squats, deadlifts, etc to provide strength and balance in those legs.  Go ahead and throw some core muscle workouts in there as well (Anything on a stability ball).

For endurance, the bike riding will do, you may also want to do some stair running, that'll help with your explosive power as well.

What college league are you going to be playing in?

  2. Build up your endurance.  I recommend hitting the bike and hitting it hard frequently.

  3. get a step or a bench, keep your feet together and hop on the step then down keeping your feet together..repeat..repeat. Once you do that well hop over the bench and back over and over count reps.
