I am 16 just got my license. My parents have collision with progressive. And pay $171 a month (both parents included). To add me to their policy, progressive wants an additional $330 a month. Is it possible to only insure me with liability insurance on a different policy with a different company on the same car???

  1. Well if the car is paid for you can get liability insurance.  That will be much cheaper for you.  You can't really be on a separate policy.  Being on your parent's policy is the CHEAPEST way to get insurance for a teen driver.  Your parent's might want to get a couple quotes from different insurance companies just to make sure you are getting the lowest rate possible.

  2. yep you can have 10 people on ten insurers all driving the same car.

Just do some legwork and find a cheaper insurer.

  3. It's possible but it will cost even more than adding to your parents policy.
