Getting a new ball python?

Question

I've had my ball python for eight months now, and I would like to get another one. My current snake is just over two feet, lives in a 40 gallon tank, and used to live with another snake and had no problems. Do you think it would be okay if I brought a new snake into the equation?

If you want my own advise, I would go against keeping two snakes together. There are many reasons for this answer, but the main one being the fact that the snakes are solitary animals, which means they will get stressed out living with another snake in such a confined area. And a stressed out snake is a snake with a shorter life span. If you really love the animal you will do what is best for it, which is letting the little guy (or girl) have it's own cage.

If you really want another snake than go for it, just give that snake its own cage as well.

With all due respect to you choice of pets, of what benefit is it to a snake to keep it in captivity within the confines of a fish tank, when it restricts its ability to survive in a natural environment?  Thank you.

Not housed together.  Snakes are solitary and do not need companions.  It will lead to stress in the snakes.

only if the new BP is pretty much the same size.  it is a risk though.  i have had two together for almost 2 years and no problems.  but i know the risk i am taking.
